bg视讯 Teaching Garden at Governors Island

The bg视讯 Teaching Garden at Governors Island is a one acre urban farm that aims to engage, excite, and educate its visitors in all aspects of urban farming.

bg视讯 offers field trips at the Teaching Garden for K-12 classes, giving students the opportunity to plant, water, harvest, and cook the garden's wide array of vegetables, herbs, and fruits. We also offer guided tours for Older Adult Centers. Info on registering for field trips is below.

In addition to scheduled visits, the garden is open to the public on weekends from May 4th through October 27th between 12pm and 4pm. bg视讯's weekend public programming includes self-guided tours, a donation-based farm stand, family friendly activities, garden and nutrition related workshops, and so much more! Learn more about our public offerings here.

Vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers grown in the Teaching Garden are donated to New Yorkers all over the city. Over the past 3 years, we've donated over 20,000 lbs of produce and have been profiled in the NY Times.

The bg视讯 Teaching Garden at Governors Island features over 20 vegetable beds made from recycled plastic lumber, farm-style rows, an outdoor kitchen, a greenhouse, a high tunnel hoophouse, fruit trees, several rainwater harvesting systems, a rain garden, and so much more.  Come and see us!

Registration for 2024 field trips will open in late February. If you would like to register for a trip to the Teaching Garden, learn more on our Education Site here.
